Rev. Tommie A. Johnson
As recovery support services coordinator for TASC, Tommie Johnson promotes community-based reentry and recovery initiatives across Illinois and nationally. With nearly 20 years of professional experience in the field of substance use treatment and recovery, Tommie guides the development of Winners’/Inner Circles, which are peer-led support groups for people in recovery who have been involved in the justice system. He was featured in the nationally televised PBS program NOW ("Maximum Capacity"), which focused on community reentry, and has received awards for his active outreach and commitment, including recognition by the Cebrin Goodman Center as an Outstanding Preventionist of the Year in 2012. Tommie is active with the Outside the Walls Ministries, the Clergy Advisory Council of the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, and the Westside Ministers Conference, as well as Illinois Congressman Danny K. Davis’ Reentry Advisory Committee and Substance Abuse Workgroup.
